Description
Transport medium is a versatile medium for the collection and preservation of samples, such as microorganisms and diagnostic methods that avoids the drying up of the sample. There are 3 types of transport medium, such as ITM, VTM, and UTM.
ITM (Inactivation Transport Medium) is a medium that serves to both inactivate viruses and prevent nucleic acid degradation.
Meanwhile, VTM (Viral Transport Medium) is transport medium for collection, storage and transportation of human nasopharyngeal virus samples.
The last type is UTM (Universal Transport Medium) used for collection, storage and transportation of viruses, chlamydiae, mycoplasma, and ureaplasma.
