Recording Webinar Antibody-Dependent, Cell-Mediated Killing: HSV and SARS-CoV-2
17/06/2021
Vaccine development efforts primarily focus on the generation of neutralizing antibodies that block viral entry, as illustrated by the success of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. However, this strategy has yielded disappointing results for herpes simplex virus (HSV). This webinar will discuss the role of antibody-dependent cell mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and antibody dependent cell-mediated phagocytosis (ADCP) in HSV vaccine development. The webinar will include a live Q&A session.
You will learn about:
•The efficacy of neutralizing and non-neutralizing antibodies in mediating protection varies for different viruses
•Non-neutralizing (ADCP) antibodies may contribute to disease pathogenesis, as suggested by studies with coronaviruses
•HVEM plays a central role in generating and mediating ADCC
